50 Shades crazier

You’ve seen the women read the books, on the tube, at work, in a cozy couch at Starbucks, E.L James’ Fifty Shades of Grey has gotten the undivided attention of a lot of women. I know it got my attention; I had to see what the fuss was all about and all I can say is well…

What’s more amazing is the great effect it is having on a number of these women, imagine my facial expression when I read of how the sale of sexy lingerie had soared up, I was bemused but it is no lie. There are a lot of 50 shades inspired lingerie in stores now and women are strolling in clutching their bank cards and out with a pretty bag and a naughty smile on their faces. Victoria’s Secret sure couldn’t have picked a better time to open its first store in London, located at the Westfield, Stratford.

Not only is lingerie being designed to fit the erotic mood of the book but also there are talks of the movie and people are nominating their possible candidates for Mr Grey. I wonder who would get the role of the dark mysterious sexy dominant, hmmmm….

Mad about Mila

You’ve seen her pretty face grace the cover of UK ELLE, you’ve seen her as a brand ambassador of Dior, you’ve watched her play the girlfriend to Ashton Kutcher in That ‘70’s Show and most of you recognize her voice as Meg Griffin on the animated TV show; Family Guy. We’ve had our eyes on the Ukrainian born, LA bred beauty ever since her brilliant performance in Black Swan along side Natalie Portman.

I don’t know what it is about Mila that tears me up between admiration and jealousy. Could it be because she’s sexy or because she’s sexy? That’s right; Mila is definitely a walking sex bomb. With praises ranging from GQ to Spike Guys’ Choice Award, men definitely drool over her and maybe some women too. I wonder what makes her so desirable, maybe it’s those piercing mismatched eyes, who ever thought that one’s imperfection could be their absolute perfection. Either ways Mila is a lot more than the comic actress or sex goddess that most of us tend to narrow her down to, read her interview with Avril Mair in the new Elle issue.

Mila mesmerizes us with every move she makes and I’m hoping she never stops. Her new movie Ted with co-star Seth Macfarlane, creator of Family Guy airs in UK cinemas on 1 August. I’m really looking forward to that.

What's in your bag by Nana Skari

A wise woman once said a lady must be two things; classy and fabulous. So it is no surprise that Coco Chanel is one of my fashion icons. I know they say that the contents of the bag tell about the character of a woman but I feel like the bag/purse she holds says more as that is what the observer sees first before rummaging one's bag. I love the Chanel flap purse because it portrays me as a sophisticated lady with eternal style as Coco would approve. I could have easily gone for the signature black bag but hey Coco said classy and fabulous not predictable right? ;).

The five items you would always find in my bag? Easy; My blackberry, my sunglasses, my wallet, an umbrella, Mac studio fix foundation and my earphones. Okay so my earphones make it six, but in my defence, the earphones and the phone come as a package deal hehe. Because what's life without music?   Music gives voice to joy, sorrow, ecstasy, pleasure. lamentation and laughter. And when I've got my earphones in, I automatically shut up the whole world. I never leave without my sunglasses because they hide a multitude of sins; they really do. Somedays you just don't feel like wearing any make up and somedays you're really a walking zombie and with the glasses; they are like the bodyguards of your eyes. They shield them away from the world. As for my umbrella, no proper Briton should ever leave home without one. Living here these past 4 years has taught me that even if the sun is shining you best have an umbrella in your bag cause the weather is so unpredictable. You often hear people joke about having the four seasons in one day in England but I tell ya, when you're done laughing do remember to stuff one in your purse as you never really know what might happen. And the studio fix....well... I'm a lady of course I have some form of make up in my purse :p.

What's in your bag by Annabelle

This Little Bag- Jane Austen

This little bag I hope will prove,
To be not vainly made--
For, if you should a needle want,
It will afford you aid.
And as we are about to part,
T'will serve another end,
For when you look upon the Bag,
You'll recollect your friend.

Just thought I'd start off with a poem for my write up.

So the five items I cannot leave my house without are; my make-up bag (and if you know me then your automatic response at this point would be of course), my iPad, my journal, a novel and my phone. Doesn't matter what purse/bag I have on that day, these five items MUST be found in that bag. I love my make up and you never know who might be lurking around trying to take a picture of you :D. Reading is one of my favourite past times and so I must always have a novel with me at all times. It just so happens that I'm currently reading 50 Shades of Grey by E.L James (blush). My ipad is not only a good source of entertainment but it's like the little laptop I take with me everywhere. I carry my journal because maybe, just maybe, something magical might happen and I would want to write it down as soon as it does, hehe. And what's the last item? Oh my phone, who in the 21st century leaves home without their phone?

 Hugs and Kisses,

Breathe

Imagine you had somewhere to be and you were locked in your home; you have your keys but the door just won't open. What's worse than the frustrated feeling of knowing you're gonna be late but can't do anything about it till the locksmith comes? Well I found myself in that situation today when my sister jammed the lock and I had somewhere to be by 6. At first I continued getting dressed with the faith that somehow the door would be open by the time I was done. That was 5:20p.m

5:30p.m By now our neighbours have come over to help us out. Everyone is joking about it, joking about breaking down the door. My sister especially is laughing the loudest, trying not to get pissed off I walk away and decide to clean my room. It's what I do when I'm trying not to get upset.

By 5:45 I call in to tell them I might be running late and explain my situation to them. Wise huh? Anyways I decide to get a salad to eat and realise that the salad in the fridge is expired. Could my day get any worse? I should be screaming by now but I just take a deep breath and say a quick prayer to God. The clock is ticking and the locksmith isn't due to arrive till the next 30 minutes *sigh*

And then my sister suggests I climb out through the window; which by the way only opens up wide enough for a squirrel. Imagine?! Even if it was big enough how would I climb out the window of MY OWN FLAT like a thief. At this point I decide to try the lock since everyone else had tried to no avail. As I do so I'm quietly praying to God to help me out here. At first nothing changes; the lock won't just budge and I'm tempted to have an outburst there and then but I just take a deep breath and try again. And gbam the door opens and I'm crowned the superhero for the day. Haha Ikid.

My point is somedays you're gonna find all odds working against you and when you think you're gonna burst out just take a deep breath and everything would be just fine. It's a simple theory; before you speak, before you react, before you walk away or do something stupid; just BREATHE.

The Last Cherished Moment

As I stood by her bedside in silence,
Life ebbed from her with every breath she took
Helpless, I stood and watched
There was nothing I could do to change this

Those strong arms that once lifted me,
Twirled me around the room with pride,
And spanked me when I did wrong
Now those arms lay lifeless beside her

And those ample bosom where I once laid my head,
She would play with my hair and tell me stories,
Now caved back in,
I watched as she took her last breaths

Those eyes which twinkled with love,
And the lips with which she blessed me
Her hearty laughter and her nightingale voice
All these I would miss

Defeated I knelt down beside her
'Mama' I called out softly, almost too softly,
Scared that if I was any louder
My voice would break her bones

Slowly she turned to look at me,
She recognised my voice and she smiled at me,
I placed a palm over her frail one
And she took mine in and squeezed gently

It took alot from her, she closed her eyes again
The tear, like clouds before the storm, begin to gather in my eyes
I called out her name again, this time a little louder
'Mama'
She opens her eyes and they are twinkling

And then she gave me the same smile
That she gave me every night before I went to bed
She took one last breath; it was a soft sigh
She was gone before my very eyes

The tears began to roll and time stood still
And all too soon I was whisked away from your side.
And then my heart dropped
Shattered into a million pieces.

The Peplum Family

After a long stressful week I decided to treat myself to a new outfit, and as I hit the high street stores, almost every one of these stores had been invaded by peplum tops, skirts and dresses or the peplum family as I call them. It is no surprise that the peplum is one of the hot trends these days as it hit the spring runway, but it looks like these stores only realised that they had been missing out on the peplum. As if I hadn't seen enough of the peplum family I turn up at my really good friend's graduation yesterday and what is she wearing? A Peplum dress (Screaming).  However can you blame them for the peplum madness? It is a very flattering silhouette, feminine yet flirtatious. My favourite peplum collections are in Oasis; a monochrome collection of only black and white, Miss Selfridge; a better choice of colour palette, Dorothy Perkins; they have one of the best peplum dresses on the high street and ASOS saves you the journey from waltzing in and out of different stores searching for the best peplum outfit. My personal favourite from the peplum family is the top; no offence to the dress and skirt of course.

Three ways to rock the peplum top is with

Skinny Jeans/Coloured Pants:

With black leather tights:

And the very last is of course with a pencil skirt

I also saw this interesting combination which is a hit or miss, so darling try this at your own risk.

Now that you've seen different ways to rock out the peplum top, go forth my child and make momma proud.

Love,
B

And Finally the Angels Decide

Victoria's Secret Angels have finally decided on the opening date of their UK brand store. Miranda Kerr; wife of Orlando Bloom has just announced that the Stratford store would be opening on the 24th of July and not 25th as some have speculated. However the opening of the Bond street store is still a mystery, don't they just love keeping secrets? I'm still looking forward to the opening of the Westfield store, will you be there?

P.S Victoria Secret is open for hiring as advertised on the board of their Bond Street location.

What are words?

A love that stands the test of time. Don't we all want that?

I never heard the story of Chris Medina till today when my boyfriend played his song "What are word?" for me. I then decided to watch the video in my spare time and I was pretty speechless; moved to tears. It's pretty amazing the things people go through in life.

He sang this song for his fiancee who just suffered a brain injury from a car accident. I love how the video changes scenery from the day he proposed to her to him pouring out his heart through each note in the studio to the very last scene; where she's sitting in her current state and he's right there holding her hand. This song touches your heart, it moves something within you, maybe even to tears and if it didn't go check yourself -_-

The words 'I love you' we're so quick to declare but just how much do we mean them? 1 Corinthians 13 paints a pretty clear picture of what love is; Love is patient, love is kind, it does not envy, it is not proud, it does not dishonour others, it is not self seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrong. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.. even non Christians know this passage. Is love hard? hell YES and that is why it is not for the faint hearted.

It is so easy for us to say the words; make those promises but how many of us are willing to
follow it to the last letter. 'I'll always be there for you'... and what happens when someday they are confined to a wheel chair? what happens when life snatches the rug from beneath you and you come crashing down? what happens when he loses all his wealth and influence? And when she can't give birth? Will you still be there? I can't imagine how hard it is on him, watching the beautiful woman he fell in love with sit helplessly there; the mental torture, the physical torture and yet he stays. To quote him "Brain injuries just scoop the life out of you... but that doesn't necessarily mean you just give up all hope."

I hope like Chris one day you'll be able to say
"Every single promise I'll keep
'Cause what kind of guy would I be
If I was to leave
When you need me the most?"

Love,
B

What's in your bag by Naima

This is my everyday 'random' bag which I carry my essentials in. The five items I can't live home without are my glasses, my ipod, a wallet containing my bus passes and I.Ds, a notebook for writing and my V.I.P which stands for very important purse (creative right?)

My very important purse contains my essentials, that is, basically everything that i need to have in my bag; coin purse, lip balm, hand cream, hand sanitizer, perfume, chewing gum, panadol and things like that. I tend to be a neat freak so I like my tiny bits and pieces stowed away in an organised purse like this. That way it isn't a freaking jungle when you deep your hands into my bag.

I never really carry anything in my bag that I wouldn't need, well maybe sometimes but you will always find these items in my bag.

What's in your bag by Anne Marie

Well this is my very fortunate "luggage" bag ( I call it that cause it serves as a luggage, I kid not -_-) and I use it basically for work as I tend to throw random things in on my way due to my lateness (let's not call it that shall we, how about fashionably late?). First is the bag in general; in it I carry my memo pad and pen always (as a banker we need to be tres serious) just to jot random websites I find while browsing and to doodle when I'm patiently waiting for 5pm to hit the clock. Joke! but yeah that's the first.

Secondly, I always have my two scarves; a pashmina my mum gave me and a vintage one I found, it gets cold at the office so I wrap myself looking like an eskimo without a care in the world. Next is my purse with my money obviously and some horrendous passport pictures I hope no one ever finds. I got this wallet in Dubai. I like that it's just plain black and suede and it can double as a purse. Next is my retro sunnies. I copped this bad boy at the market in lagos (yup, that deep, lol) and I hold on to them like it's my last breath. Following on the list is my almost dead hairbrush which for some reason I haven't thrown away because, well because I forget to. But hey I use it anyway. The ever faithful  gala wrapper that I've refused to throw away since how many years. Kidding! I snack on gala alot so that's what is left of my ever tasty gala (don't worry I eat normal food as well). To accompany my gala is my half bottle of fanta beside my bag.

The least and surely not the last items in my work bag are my compact powder, lippes from Victoria Secret and my Givenchy eau de toilette perfume. A girl's gotta stay fresh 24/7 right? So that's basically my handbag story :). Seeing as this is my work bag and I love Bondi ever dearly I'll probably send in a post of my day bag. Until then cash ya larra...x

What's in your bag?

Hi guys,
I'm doing a new feature titled "What's in your bag" which speaks for itself. It's basically a way to get intimate with alot of my friends. People say the contents in a lady's bag speak alot for her character. Well let's find out how true this is shall we? I've asked a couple of my friend's to participate and I'll be posting them as they hit me up. All I need is about 3 pictures of your bag and the contents; get creative with the pictures. Feel free to participate and send your pictures to bondibilala@yahoo.com.

My Angel on Earth

So I was recently going through a writer's block period (still am), haven't really been inspired to write on anything but seeing as today is the lovely Janada's birthday I'm gonna dedicate this post to her.

A lot of you might not know who she is so I'll gladly tell you. Jana is not only my cousin but my sister and at some point people referred to us as twins and we grew into bestfriends. Of all the people I've called my bestfriend, Jana is one of the realest. For the 16 years we've known each other we've had our ups and downs, we've fought and laughed and cried together.

I remember the first time we met; I was 3 and she was 4. It should have been just one summer break but I never went back to my parents after that. We've fought like cats and dogs, I've called her names and gotten physical with her; even pushed her down the stairs (I've changed, I swear). We're two totally different people. While growing up I almost took a dark path but Jana led me to the person I am today. She saved me from being a capital BITCH. She may not even know it but I've looked up to her since high school.

This last semester was a tough ass and Jana truly gave me a shoulder to lean on. She encouraged me and prayed for me. She is always the first person I call when I'm in trouble or when I have good news. I hate calling her first though, when I'm in trouble because she laughs at everything. Yup that's right. It pisses me off, I fear that one day I'll tell her I have cancer and her reply would be 'LOL' -_-

One of my best hobbies is making her laugh (and I do a fine job at it :p), she makes you feel like the greatest comedian alive. Janada is meek and humble and loving; always sees the good in people (not like me x_x). I don't think there's one person on this earth without a positive thing to say about her. Show me that person and I'll show them my fist :).

Everyone needs a Jana in their life. The one person who knows you inside and out and still loves you all the same. Who never judges you even when you clearly need to be judged. The one person you can always count on no matter what happens in life.  That one person who encourages you, strengthens you and looks out for you. She is an angel in disguise. We've had our ups and downs but if I had to do this life again I'll specially request for you to be by my side. So here's to you Jana, you truly deserve the best in this life and I pray to God that is all you get. I wish you long life and prosperity. Happiness all through your life and success in everything that you do. Keep being a blessing to me and to everyone around you. I don't ever want to imagine this life without you; the world would be empty, you truly complete me. I love you sooo much and you're the best. God bless you
